Your adventure begins in Cusco, where you’ll mount your motorcycle and head northeast. The route passes through the charming villages of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo, allowing you to soak in the vibrant local culture and scenic vistas. Ascending to the Málaga Pass, at an elevation of 4,315 meters, you’ll pause to take in the spectacular landscape that encompasses lush mountains and towering snow-peaked ranges. The descent will take you through the quaint villages of Huayopata, Huyro, and Santa Maria, leading you to the banks of the Vilcanota River. The day concludes with a train ride from the Hidroelectrica station to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night, preparing for the Machu Picchu visit the following morning.
Rise early and catch the bus to Machu Picchu. This day is dedicated to exploring the mystical city of the Incas with a knowledgeable cultural guide. Over approximately four hours, you’ll learn about the site’s historical significance and discover key features like the Intiwatana (solar clock). This exploration not only delves into the architectural marvels of Machu Picchu but also offers insight into its cultural and astronomical importance. After a thorough exploration, you’ll return to Aguas Calientes to reflect on the day’s adventures.
Depart from Aguas Calientes by train early in the morning and reunite with your motorcycle at the Hidroelectrica station. The return journey takes you through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Marvel at the archaeological sites of Moray and the salt mines of Maras, renowned for their historical and cultural significance. The tour then leads back to the village of Chinchero, celebrated for its exquisite Inca textile crafts. Your journey concludes as you ride back to Cusco, bringing an end to an unforgettable tour.
