Your journey begins with an early morning ride from Cusco, heading southeast through the scenic and culturally rich landscapes of Tipon, Huambutio, Huancarani, and Ninamarca. In Ninamarca, you will encounter the ancient Chullpas, stone storage buildings from the Inca period, offering a glimpse into the architectural and historical significance of the region. The ride continues to Paucartambo, a village known for its well-preserved colonial architecture and vibrant local culture, situated along the serene Mapacho River. Later, the day’s route takes you to San Pedro, where you will venture into the rainforest to spot the Rooster of the Rocks, Peru’s national bird, in its natural habitat. The day ends with a relaxing evening at a lodge in San Pedro, preparing you for the adventures of the next day.
The adventure progresses as you depart from San Pedro, traveling towards Pillcopata. Upon reaching the village of Patria, you will embark on a riverboat excursion on the Pillcopata River, which allows for an intimate experience with the local wildlife, including caimans and monkeys, and possibly even a glimpse of jaguars. The riverbanks are also home to ancient cave paintings that provide a direct connection to the region’s ancestral roots. The immersive day in nature concludes with a peaceful night’s stay at a lodge in Patria, surrounded by the sounds and sights of the rainforest.
On the final day, you take a different route back towards Cusco, passing through the community of Qollquepata. This route offers new views and experiences of the Manu region’s diverse landscapes. The journey leads you through the Sacred Valley, stopping in Pisaq, known for its archaeological site and bustling market where local artisans sell their crafts. The return to Cusco marks the end of this thrilling motorcycle tour, leaving you with memories of the varied landscapes, rich wildlife, and cultural heritage encountered along the way.
