If you intend to drive in Peru for a duration of 30 days or less, a valid foreign driver’s license suffices for renting motorcycles, cars, or scooters. However, it’s imperative to carry your passport at all times to prove your legal entry into Peru.

For stays exceeding 30 days, obtaining an international driver’s permit is necessary. It’s advisable to apply for this permit at least two weeks prior to your trip to Peru, considering the typical mailing duration. Applications can be submitted here.
